Eric starting playing soccer at age four and has competed at the collegiate and professional level. He earned a B.S. in Strength and Conditioning from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2011. He earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and completed his Master's degree in Sports Performance from Southern Utah University. Eric tailors each training session with a science-based approach to help athletes reach their ultimate potential, both mentally and physically. He concentrates on speed mechanics, acceleration, raw power, and injury prevention. Eric heads up the management team and provides strategic vision and insight for the organization.
Kelly is one of those rare born and raised in Colorado Springs natives who is a proud Mitchell Marauder graduate. He is a military veteran who served 8 years in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. Kelly has a degree in communications and has spent his career serving in two other arenas; Customer Service and Soccer. He has an 18 year background in management and also holds a USSF "C" soccer coaching license. Kelly is a certified Toca instructor and has been playing soccer since he could stand. He currently plays Professional Indoor for the Colorado Inferno FC.
Trevor is a 2013 Air Academy High School graduate where he was an All-State baseball player. He attended Dixie State University on a baseball scholarship for two years and recently transferred to Metropolitan State University of Denver. He is a Sports Promotional Design major and is continuing his baseball career. Outside of The Arena, Trevor owns two businesses - Berg Bat Company that makes custom handcrafted wood baseball bats, and Gold Standard Graphics, a custom graphic design company. He has a passion for growing young baseball players into hardworking, young men of character and integrity.
Doug is an owner and the managing partner of The Arena. He is a Colorado native and attended Broomfield High School. He graduated from the University of Denver in 1980 where he was the starting catcher all four years and set school records in home runs, RBIs and walks. He was named an Academic All American his senior year and signed a free agent contract to play in the Montreal Expo organization. After retiring from baseball, Doug received his MBA and law degrees from the University of Denver and has been practicing law in Colorado Springs since 1985. His practice is concentrated in the areas of trusts and estates, business representation, asset protection and tax planning. Doug has authored or co-authored five books on estate planning and recently published The Arena Catching Academy with his son, Trevor. He has coached baseball for over twenty years from Tee Ball to high school, recently concluding his eight-year career at Air Academy High School with a trip to the final four in 2017. Doug and his wife Kitsen have three sons and two grandsons.
Luis grew up in Montrose, Colorado spending much of his youth playing soccer with friends and family. He played college soccer at Otero Junior College before transferring to the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Luis graduated from UCCS in 2016 with a BA in Strength and Conditioning and joined the Arena coaching staff in 2017. He has earned both his CPT from the National Academy of Sports Medicine and his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist designation from the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition to working with our Arena athletes, Luis coaches track and field at Lewis Palmer High School. He is a true professional dedicated to helping athletes reach their goals and become exceptional.
As a native to Colorado Springs, Tyler was a multi-sport athlete, with focal involvement in football at Palmer High School. In 2017, he graduated the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor's degree in Sports and Exercise Science. Certified as a USAW athletic performance coach and a certified personal trainer, Tyler has a professional background in strength and conditioning, personal training, and he also coached Windsor High School to a 4A Colorado state championship title in 2015. Tyler has experience coaching a variety of athletes and has worked with general population clientele, ranging from 9 to 80 years of age.
Ben grew up in New Brighton, Minnesota. He attended Irondale High School and was a 4 sport athlete: football, basketball, track and swimming. Ben graduated from Minnesota State with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2011. After School he moved to Colorado with an offer to play Arena and Semi-Pro football. When he concluded his football career, Ben completed his CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2016. Ben now competes in trail and road course marathons and loves working with athletes of all ages teaching them how to move their bodies correctly.
Austin Powell is a Colorado Native who played baseball and graduated from Fountain-Fort Carson High School. At FFCHS, he was three-time All-Area infielder and on his senior year ESPN Max Preps ranked him as the 47th infielder in the nation. Austin attended Midland University on a full tuition baseball scholarship. He coaches the Colorado Majestic; a 12U baseball team based out of Colorado Springs. Currently, Austin is finishing up his classes through the Fountain Fire Department. He has a dedication for helping infielders become mechanically sound and reach their true hitting potential.
